In the Malnad, people have always built with what the land offers, and Ashvana keeps that faith. Walls rise in bare laterite, the rust-red stone of the Western Ghats, left unplastered so the earth's own colour and grain remain in plain view.
Above them, roofs slope low in warm terracotta tile, pitched and deep-eaved in the old way, shaped over generations to shrug off the monsoon and hold the cool beneath. Timber posts frame shaded verandahs, and stone paths trace their way between the cottages through beds of fern and flowering green.

It is roughly a four to five hour drive from Bengaluru and about three hours from Mangaluru, whose airport is the nearest. The closest railway station is Sakleshpur.
